Our staff is trained in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, specifically birth through 4th grade. We provide ongoing professional development for our teachers including the opportunity to further their education. These policies and procedures ensure the highest level of care and education for our children. We are a committed and dedicated community of caregivers and educators with more than 75 years of combined experience!
Our Health and Safety best practices, include frequent proper hand washing, fourteen step diaper changing procedures, and sanitization of all toys and equipment throughout the day in every classroom. All staff is certified in First Aide and Pediatric CPR.
Our Educational Philosophy
Our educational philosophy is very simple but requires daily effort and intentionality - Make children feel safe, valued and loved. Then they can achieve any and everything! We live by the words of the great Maya Angelou:
"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel".
We have over 9100 square feet with 7 classrooms, a Library and indoor play area. We know that children learn best through play and provide several opportunities for outdoor activities.
We are proud to provide meals for all our students -Infants through School Age. Our onsite Food Service Manager prepares healthy and nutritious meals provided by the CBS Kosher Food Program that meet the Child and Adult Food Program Federal Guidelines. This includes breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks daily. We are a peanut nut free environment and encourage parents to please keep us updated regarding allergies and special dietary concerns.
In addition, we offer an enrichment drama program taught by qualified
instructors from Horizon Theatre as well as provide opportunities to explore the community through weekly field trips to the library and other seasonal locations.
The WIllow School Founder
Kym Ramsey, originally from Aurora, Colorado, graduated from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Economics and proficiency in Portuguese. Kym received a commission into the United States Army as 2nd Lieutenant and after graduation attended the Military Intelligence School and Leadership Training in Ft. Huachuca, AZ and completed Airborne Training in Ft. Benning, GA.
Her first duty assignment was with the 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Casey, Korea – the closest Camp to the DMZ that any female was deployed. She was in command of the Headquarters’ Division with over 1700 soldiers. After, Korea, she was sent to Goodfellow Air force Base in San Angelo, TX, a joint military base – training soldiers in electronic warfare during Desert Storm.
After four years serving on active duty in the Army, Kym went into the Inactive Reserve pursued her Masters of Business Administration with a focus in Human Resource Management at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. After completing her MBA, she began her second career in Human Resources with several fortune 500 firms in such capacities as Recruiters, Executive Benefits and Compensation, EEO Officer, Human Resource Generalist and Manager.
As a working mother of three girls, Kym recognized the value of quality childcare. From 2004 – 2008, Kym owned and operated a private franchise preschool located in Skippack, PA with over 200 children enrolled from ages six weeks to six years and its Annex for school aged children. The Annex housed a full day Kindergarten, a library, computer lab, resource center, and a gym with a rock climbing wall. In July 2008, she sold the school to focus on bringing quality childcare services similar to major chains to the urban market.
Kym has taught Management, Leadership, and Communication courses to both undergraduate and graduate students at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey, Temple University and The Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia. She has volunteered her time as Admissions Counselor and Interviewer for Georgetown University, a board member of Germantown Academy’s Diversity Committee, board member for the Russell Byer’s Charter School in Philadelphia. Kym's daughters are her greatest accomplishments - Morgan (24 years old), Madison (20 years old), and Mackenzie (18 years old) and marriage of 27 years to Ric Ramsey.
